What We Do at HCDC

Launched in 2017, Houston Community Data Connections (HCDC) at the Kinder Institute seeks to facilitate the practical use of data by community leaders for decision-making and capacity building in Houston’s disadvantaged communities. Through the support of the Houston Endowment, HCDC serves as a local data intermediary and provides a cluster of data and research services to the community.

Data Dashboard

A robust online dashboard providing neighborhood-level indicators to highlight disparities and other local issues.

Data Training

We build data capacity and informed decision-making through the data digest and various data literacy training tools.

Data Request

Our well-trained staff are skilled in data analysis and can provide technical assistance to meet your data needs.

Our Work

Alix CaDavid
Director of Program Development, Vecino Health Centers

In spring 2020, we approached the Kinder Institute’s Houston Community Data Connections team to enlist their help in identifying datasets for Vecino Health Centers’ triannual community assessment. The Kinder Institute team was very responsive and the technical assistance provided enriched our data collection process. In fact, the experience was so beneficial and it was so easy to work with them that we hope to enlist their assistance in other projects in the near future.  Our gratitude goes to Jie, Sarah, Katie and Mingming; what a team!
